Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS) will join schools across Indiana in celebrating College Go! Week from September 22 to 26. The initiative, coordinated by Learn More Indiana and the Indiana Commission for Higher Education, aims to help students prepare for education after high school.
The event will take place at Arsenal Technical, George Washington, Shortridge, Crispus Attucks high schools, and IMPACT Academy. During the week, colleges and universities in Indiana will waive application fees so students can apply without financial obstacles.
Each IPS high school will host events through its Future Center. These centers offer resources where students can get advice from counselors about college and career options. Activities planned include college-themed events, workshops on completing applications, career exploration sessions, mascot scavenger hunts, college spirit days, and parties focused on applying to college.
“College Go! Week is about more than just applying—it’s about helping students see what’s possible for their future,” said Austin Dodd, IPS director of high school academies and pathways. “When I was a college student, the process felt overwhelming. That’s why I’m proud of the work our department does to support students, whether they’re pursuing Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, dual credit, or direct pathways to careers. We want every student to know they have options, and that we’re here to guide them.”
Counselors and staff in the Future Centers will be available throughout the week to assist with applications and scholarships.
Dodd noted that removing barriers like application fees helps ensure more IPS graduates are ready for various postsecondary paths including four-year universities, two-year degrees or career credentials.
