Indiana offers a variety of programs to help students and job seekers gain experience and prepare for careers. One such opportunity is the paid, full-time internship with the Indiana House of Representatives. This program allows participants to work closely with staff and legislators, developing skills in legislative operations, communications, and policy. Interns also attend a speaker series and interact with constituents, state agencies, and private organizations. The internship is open to college students, recent graduates, as well as graduate and law students.

Applications for the 2026 House internships are now available online at indianahouserepublicans.com/internship, with a deadline of October 31.

According to organizers, internships like this help students develop confidence and professional skills. "When talking to former House interns, the one thing they always mention is how much confidence they gained. They walk away knowing they can handle challenges and contribute in meaningful ways."

These opportunities are part of broader workforce development efforts across Indiana. The Indiana Department of Workforce Development provides resources such as career exploration tools, job centers, job fairs information, support for job seekers, and unemployment resources through its website.

Recent initiatives including Top Jobs and Power Up Indiana aim to connect Hoosiers with training opportunities while helping businesses find qualified employees. More information about these programs can be found on the DWD website.

Residents seeking assistance or more details about state resources can contact the Statehouse office at 317-232-9850 or visit in.gov/h54.
