The Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS) Board of School Commissioners has announced several procedural changes for the board meeting scheduled on February 27, 2025. These adjustments aim to manage high attendance while ensuring an efficient meeting process.

In a statement, the board emphasized its commitment to community engagement and providing a "safe, organized, and inclusive environment where all voices can be heard." To accommodate the larger than expected number of speakers, the usual three-minute speaking time per individual will be reduced to 90 seconds. This change is intended to allow everyone a chance to speak.

For those whose statements exceed the new time limit, the board encourages submissions through their online portal at https://forms.office.com/r/DNNG7Qx5bY.

Additionally, a weapons detection system will be in place for all attendees entering the meeting. The board stated that "weapons are not allowed on IPS properties under any circumstance," with exceptions only for IPS Police. Ensuring safety and security remains a priority for IPS.

The board expressed appreciation for public understanding of these changes, stating: "Community voices are important, and the Board appreciates the public’s cooperation in helping to maintain a fair and inclusive forum."
