UIndy Wins 10th Consecutive GLVC All-Sports Trophy

The University of Indianapolis has earned its 10th-straight Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) All-Sports Trophy, the league office announced on Tuesday.

The Greyhounds totaled 218 points during the 2021-22 academic year, winning by 34 points over second-place Lewis University.

The trophy is UIndy’s 13th in program history, with wins in the 1978-79, 1994-95, and 2002-03 seasons, as well as the past 10 dating back to 2011-12.

The GLVC did not award the All-Sports Trophy in 2019-20 due to the COVID-19 pandemic that suspended spring sports competition that year.

The GLVC All-Sports Trophy is presented to the institution that demonstrates the best all-around performance in the league’s 24 sponsored sports.

Points are allocated based on overall finish in the respective sport’s Conference tournament and league standings.

Led by second-year Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics Scott Young, UIndy captured a league-high five GLVC titles this season to earn top points in men’s soccer, men’s swimming and diving, women’s golf, women’s lacrosse, and women’s tennis.

In addition, the UIndy men each finished runner-up in basketball, golf, tennis, and lacrosse, while the women picked up second-place honors in indoor track and field and softball.

Lewis secured second place by 5.5 points over third-place Drury, tallying 184 total points during the 2021-22 season.

This marks the Flyers fifth consecutive top-five finish and back-to-back runner-up honors.

Lewis earned four GLVC Championships this season, hoisting the trophy in men’s cross country, volleyball, and both women’s indoor and outdoor track and field.

Drury University earned third-place distinction this season, adding its 12th straight top-five finish in the standings.

The Panthers picked up 178.5 points, highlighted by league titles in women’s soccer, women’s swimming and diving, and women’s basketball.

Completing its third and final year of league membership, Lindenwood University finished fourth in this season’s All-Sports Trophy standings.

The Lions totaled 162.5 points this year, winning three Conference titles and finishing 16 points shy of third place.

Lindenwood claimed GLVC Championships in football, men’s indoor track and field, and men’s lacrosse.

McKendree University was close behind in fifth place, tallying 140.5 points on the heels of a trio of GLVC Championships in wrestling, women’s bowling, and men’s tennis.

The All-Sports Trophy was first instituted in the GLVC during the 1978-79 season with seven different institutions having claimed the award.
