Great Lakes Valley Conference recently issued the following announcement.

Missouri Western, UIndy Collect GLVC Women’s Lacrosse Weekly Awards

Missouri Western State University freshman midfielder Mikaela Ness and University of Indianapolis graduate midfielder Peyton Romig have been named the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) Women’s Lacrosse Players of the Week, it was announced by the league office Monday.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Mikaela Ness, Missouri Western

Fr., MF, Forest Lake, Minn.

Team Result: 11-10 W at Frostburg State (3/21) | 10-2 W at Charleston (3/24) | 18-5 W at Davis & Elkins (3/25)

Tallied nine points on eight goals and one assist in 3-0 road win swing

Posted .727 (8-of-11) shots on goal percentage

Scored five against regional foe Davis & Elkins

Added seven draw controls, four ground balls, and three caused turnovers

Earns first-ever Offensive Player of the Week award for Missouri Western

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Peyton Romig, #2 Indianapolis

Gr., MF, Carthage, N.Y.

Major: Exercise Science

Team Result: 15-8 W vs. #16 Tampa (3/21) | 14-6 W at Walsh (3/25)

Won 32 draw controls in pair of wins, including against 16th-ranked Tampa and regional foe Walsh

Registered 18 draw controls against Tampa and 14 against Walsh

Grabbed four ground balls and had one caused turnover

Added four goals with two in each game

Earns fifth career Player of the Week award (DEF: 3/28/22, 2/21/22, 4/19/21, 4/12/21; OFF: 2/17/20)

Last Greyhounds’ Defensive Player of the Week: Bella Schorr (3/7/22)
