Indiana House Republicans are looking for student interns for the 2026 legislative session, according to State Representatives Matt Hostettler and Cindy Ledbetter.

The internships are paid, full-time positions available to college students, recent graduates, and those in graduate or law school. Representative Hostettler said that the program gives participants a chance to learn about state government by taking part in the legislative process.

"Interns play a key role during the legislative session, directly assisting lawmakers and staff," Hostettler said. "This internship offers invaluable experience working at the Statehouse and gaining skills that will apply to jobs in a number of fields."

Representative Ledbetter explained that interns will work at the Statehouse in downtown Indianapolis from Monday through Friday during the legislative session, which runs from January through March.

"House interns have an incredible opportunity to learn more about our state government while earning valuable professional experience," Ledbetter said. "They leave with transferable skills on top of a better understanding of the legislative process."

Internship roles are offered in areas such as legislative operations, policy, and communications. Each intern will be paired with a staff member and assigned to work with specific state representatives. The program also provides opportunities for interaction with legislators, state agencies, private sector organizations, and includes participation in a weekly speaker series featuring Indiana civic leaders.

Applications can be submitted online at indianahouserepublicans.com/internship and must be received by October 31.

Representative Matt Hostettler serves House District 64, covering parts of Gibson, Knox, and Vanderburgh counties.
