Indianapolis Public Schools recently issued the following announcement.
Before winter break ends, we wanted to share a few reminders and updates.
First, please remember that Monday, Jan. 3, is an asynchronous learning day to give school-based instructional staff time for planning before returning from winter break. During this day, students will participate in remote learning from home. School work for this day is posted on Schoology.
Second, in-person classes resume Tuesday, Jan. 4. We look forward to seeing all of our students and staff back at school and in classrooms throughout the district.
Please remember that IPS has a mask mandate and that all current protocols still apply. It is important that masks fit properly for adults and students. Masks should fit snugly over the nose and mouth and under the chin, and there should be no gaps around the sides.
We know that being fully vaccinated is our best protection against the spread of COVID-19. If your child is 5 years of age or older, please be certain that they are vaccinated. You can visit www.ourshot.in.gov to find locations and schedule your appointment.
Finally, as the country battles the COVID-19 Omicron variant, the district is awaiting updated K-12 guidance from our federal, state and local health agencies. We will communicate any updates to our protocols to families and staff as soon as possible. It is the intent of Indianapolis Public Schools to continue to offer in-person learning for our students.
Please continue to enjoy the remainder of winter break and remember to mask up, avoid large gatherings, social distance, wash your hands frequently and get vaccinated.
