As the NCAA celebrates its 25th anniversary in Indianapolis, the organization is marking this milestone with a significant $25,000 investment in Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS). Q&A with Dena Bond: A spotlight on IPS's director of food service
In this edition of IPS: Employee Spotlight, the focus is on Dena Bond, Director of Food Service at Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS). Bond, a native of Jeffersonville, Indiana, has dedicated 21 years to IPS, all within the food service department. She began her career as an operations manager for schools and later managed the district’s central kitchen before assuming her current role in 2016.

Her appointment was confirmed by the IPS Board of School Commissioners on July 25 during their Action Session. IPS student wins global championship at Math Hoops Tournament
Jacob Gregory, a sixth-grade math teacher at William McKinley School 39, documented the journey of his student, Ileana Mora-Gomez, as she competed and won the Math Hoops Global Tournament in New York City. This marked Gregory’s second consecutive trip as the head of the school’s NBA Math Hoops program. Gregory was selected as one of three 2024 Learn Fresh Outstanding Educators and was the only recipient from Indiana. He joined Mora-Gomez in New York City to participate in global festivities, including the NBA Draft.
