Hot-Shooting @ButlerMBB Takes 95-67 Win Over Saint Francis (Pa.)
Butler shot 70 percent from the field in coasting to a 95-67 win over visiting Saint Francis (Pa.) Thursday night at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
Chuck Harris led the Bulldogs with 22 points as the team improved to 2-1 on the season. Saint Francis is now 1-3.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
The Bulldogs shot 70.4 percent from the field (38-54), which was the highest percentage by the team since shooting 71.9 percent (41-57) against Maine Nov. 15, 2014 (a Butler record).
Harris added a career-high seven assists; Butler assisted on 21 of their 38 makes.
Butler shot 8-for-15 from behind the arc (53 percent).
The Bulldogs had 56 points in the paint and 28 fast-break points.
Joining Harris in double figures were Eric Hunter Jr. (18), Jayden Taylor (15), and Simas Lukosius (15).
Lukosius has posted double figures in each of the Bulldogs' three games this season. He set a career-high with six assists Thursday night.
A 16-2 run (part of a stretch featuring nine straight made shots) late in the first half turned a one-point Saint Francis lead (29-28) with 5:40 remaining into a 44-31 Butler lead with 11 seconds remaining in the half; Butler would lead by 11 at intermission.
Butler extended its lead to 20 (66-46) with 12:40 remaining in the game before an 11-0 run eventually pulled Saint Francis back within single digits at 66-57. The lead was back to 24 within four minutes of that point and the game was put away.
Josh Cohen led Saint Francis with 18 points and seven rebounds.

Butler is 66-2 over its last 68 non-conference home games
Taylor and Lukosius combined to score the first 20 points of the game for Butler.
The outing was Harris's 11th career 20-point scoring game.
Myles Tate came off the bench to score eight points, his high since March 6, 2021 at Creighton prior to tearing his ACL the next week in the 2021 BIG EAST Tournament.
Pierce Thomas had a team-best six rebounds Thursday night and has had at least five rebounds in each of the Bulldogs' three games this season.
Manny Bates was limited to only 21 minutes (including just six in the first half) due to foul trouble, totaling eight points and four rebounds. He made all four of his attempts from the field.
Bates had three blocks for the third consecutive game.
