The Indiana House of Representatives has passed a bill authored by State Representative Michelle Davis to protect women's sports at the collegiate level. The legislation, known as House Bill 1041, aims to prevent biological men from competing in female sports at post-secondary institutions within Indiana.

This bill is consistent with a recent federal executive order signed by President Donald Trump. Representative Davis was present for the signing, recognizing her leadership on this issue at the state level.

"Ensuring fairness in collegiate sports is essential to protecting opportunities for female athletes," Davis stated. "Biological differences impact athletic performance, and this bill helps maintain a level playing field. I'm grateful to my colleagues in the House for advancing this legislation, and I look forward to seeing it continue to move through the process."

Previously, during the 2022 legislative session, Davis authored House Enrolled Act 1041, which barred biological men from participating in female sports at K-12 schools.

House Bill 1041 successfully passed through the House Education Committee with a vote of 12 to 1 before being approved by the full House of Representatives. It will now proceed to the Senate for further evaluation.
