Applications are now open for the Indiana House Page Program for the 2025 legislative session, as announced by lawmakers from Henry County. This program provides Hoosier students aged 13 to 18 with the opportunity to engage in various activities at the Statehouse in Indianapolis, including assisting lawmakers and staff, touring the premises, and observing legislative sessions.
State Representative Brad Barrett (R-Richmond) emphasized the educational value of the program: "It's encouraging to see so many young people take an interest in government through this program. Being a page at the Statehouse allows students to experience what takes place during the legislative session that impacts all Hoosiers."
State Representative Cory Criswell (R-Middletown) provided information on how students can apply: "Being a page is not only a way for students to learn up close how government works, but they can also meet their state representative and work in a professional environment. I hope to see students from our district explore this opportunity and apply." Applications are available at IndianaHouseRepublicans.com/PageProgram along with details about available days during the session, which runs from January 8 to April 29.
Students interested in participating will have opportunities to page on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. Large groups can participate on Wednesdays by contacting the page program director at 317-232-9410 or pageprogram@iga.in.gov. Participants will receive an excused absence from school but must arrange their own lunch and transportation.
State Representative J.D. Prescott (R-Union City) highlighted the benefits of participation: "It’s always a highlight of session when local students serve as pages at the Statehouse. This program offers a unique chance to better understand the lawmaking process while learning how decisions impact their communities. If you or someone you know is interested, encourage them to sign up and get involved!"
