Brookville is set to advance its road and bridge projects with over $225,000 in state funding, as announced by State Representative Lindsay Patterson. The funds come from Indiana's Community Crossings Matching Grant Program, which supports infrastructure improvements such as road reconstruction and bridge preservation. Across the state, 223 communities will benefit from more than $139 million in matching grants.
Rep. Patterson emphasized the importance of these grants: “With these grants, we can move forward with vital roadway projects that will benefit our communities for years to come. This funding represents Indiana's commitment to Hoosier families, businesses and visitors who rely on our roads.”
The grant program requires smaller municipalities to provide a 25 percent local match while larger ones must contribute 50 percent. Additionally, state law mandates that half of the available matching funds go annually to counties with populations under 50,000. Since its inception in 2016, the Community Crossings initiative has allocated over $1.8 billion towards local infrastructure enhancements.
