Alaina Shonkwiler sworn in as state representative for House District 29

Alaina Shonkwiler from Noblesville has officially assumed her role as the state representative for House District 29, which covers parts of Fishers and Noblesville. The oath of office was administered by Indiana Supreme Court Chief Justice Loretta H. Rush during a ceremony held in the House Chamber at the Statehouse on Organization Day, marking the beginning of the 2025 legislative session.

Shonkwiler expressed her enthusiasm for her new position, stating, "I'm looking forward to representing and supporting the Hoosiers of House District 29." She emphasized her commitment to collaborating with fellow lawmakers to pass a budget that aligns with fiscal responsibility.

Before taking on this role, Shonkwiler worked as a business development associate at Garmong Construction and held a managerial position in government consulting with Katz, Sapper & Miller. Her experience also includes serving as district director for U.S. Representative Victoria Spartz.

Shonkwiler's educational background includes graduating from Noblesville High School and earning a bachelor's degree in public affairs management from Indiana University Bloomington. She furthered her education at Oklahoma University's Economic Development Institute and completed courses in Economic Development and Community Development at Ball State University. Shonkwiler resides in Noblesville with her husband Jason and their two children.
