Indiana House Republicans are accepting applications for student internships for the 2026 legislative session, according to State Representative Matt Commons. The paid, full-time internships are open to college students, recent graduates, and those enrolled in graduate or law school.

Commons described the program as a chance for students to learn about state government by participating directly in the legislative process. "From participating in legislative meetings to interacting on the House floor with legislators and staff, interns are fully engaged in session," Commons said. "I encourage any student who is interested in government, politics and communications to apply today."

Interns will be based at the Statehouse in downtown Indianapolis and work Monday through Friday during the legislative session, which runs from January through March. Available positions include roles in legislative operations, policy, and communications.

Interns will be assigned a staff mentor and work closely with a group of state representatives. The program also offers opportunities to engage with state legislators, agencies, private sector organizations, and attend a weekly speaker series featuring Indiana civic leaders.

Applications can be submitted online at indianahouserepublicans.com/internship until October 31.

State Rep. Matt Commons represents House District 13, covering all of Benton and Warren counties as well as parts of Fountain, Jasper, Montgomery, Newton, Tippecanoe and White counties.
