André Carson, U.S. Congressman representing Indiana’s 7th district since 2008, addressed several topics in recent posts on his official social media account, including religious observance, healthcare policy, and immigration issues.

On October 1, 2025, Carson extended wishes to those observing Yom Kippur, stating: "May this Yom Kippur be a time of reflection and renewal. I wish all who observe an easy and meaningful fast, and may you be inscribed and sealed in the Book of Life—G'mar Chatima Tovah!"

The following day, Carson addressed public health insurance eligibility for undocumented immigrants. On October 2, 2025, he wrote: "FACT CHECK: Undocumented immigrants are not eligible for public health insurance. Democrats are not advocating to make them eligible. We ARE advocating for 22 million Americans to keep their affordable insurance—cancer patients. Disabled children. Republicans are hiding behind"

Later that same day, Carson criticized the use of Miami Correctional Facility in Indiana to detain immigrants for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). He posted: "Using Miami Correctional Facility to hold immigrants for ICE is wrong for Indiana. Every human deserves to be treated with dignity, respect and the right to due process. I stand with faith leaders to end this complicity."

Carson has represented Indiana’s 7th District in Congress since replacing Julia Carson in 2008. Before serving in Congress, he was a member of the Indianapolis City-County Council from 2007 to 2008. Born in Indianapolis in 1974 and currently residing there at age 48, Carson holds a BA from Concordia University Wisconsin.
