André Carson, U.S. Congressman representing Indiana’s 7th district since 2008, recently used his social media platform to announce new legislative efforts and comment on the ongoing budget negotiations in Congress.
On September 20, 2025, Carson announced a new piece of legislation aimed at supporting the aviation industry. In his post, he stated: "NEW BILL ALERT: I'm proud to introduce the Aviation Funding Stability Act with @RepCohen. My district is home to the best airport in North America @INDAirport and the industry is vitally important to our economy. Our bill keeps our skies—and the workers who get us up in the" (September 20, 2025).
Two days later, as a potential government shutdown loomed, Carson addressed partisan divisions in Congress over federal funding. He wrote: "8 days until a government shutdown. We've been here before—House Republicans running out the clock because they can’t unify their own party. But Democrats are unified: no cuts to healthcare. No cuts to SNAP. No more tax dollars to illegal ICE arrests." (September 22, 2025).
Also on September 22, Carson extended holiday greetings for the Jewish New Year: "I wish everyone celebrating in Indianapolis and around the world a happy, healthy, and sweet new year. Shanah Tovah U'metukah!" (September 22, 2025).
Carson has represented Indiana’s 7th District since succeeding Julia Carson in 2008 and previously served on the Indianapolis City-County Council from 2007 to 2008. Born in Indianapolis in 1974 and currently residing there, he graduated from Concordia University Wisconsin with a BA in 2003.
