State Representative Criswell recently attended the White House State Leadership Conference, an event designed to bring together state leaders from across the country for direct discussions with White House officials. The conference aims to encourage the exchange of ideas and promote collaboration on key issues facing individual states.
Criswell met with senior officials and Cabinet secretaries, including Vice President JD Vance, representing Hoosiers in his district. He reported that the meetings focused on Indiana’s progress in several areas and ways to further strengthen its partnership with President Trump’s Administration.
“The meeting highlighted many policy areas where Indiana is leading the nation, including efforts to strengthen education, expand school choice, improve public safety, support law enforcement and reduce bureaucracy. It was encouraging to see our state’s successes recognized on a national stage, and I was proud to share the work we have done to serve Hoosiers efficiently and responsibly,” Criswell stated.
He emphasized the importance of ongoing communication between state and federal governments: “Having an open dialogue between state and federal government is beneficial for lawmakers and the communities we serve. The discussions reinforced how important it is for states like Indiana to share our ideas and experiences with national leaders. I left confident that our work is helping shape national conversations in a positive way and that collaboration between state and federal officials will continue to produce meaningful results.”
The conference also included question-and-answer sessions with each speaker and agency representative, offering lawmakers additional opportunities for engagement on matters significant to their constituents.
Criswell invited community members to reach out with any questions or concerns by phone at 317-232-9850 or by visiting in.gov/h54.
