André Carson, a U.S. Congressman representing Indiana’s 7th district since 2008, has recently voiced strong criticism of President Trump’s health and economic policies in a series of posts on his social media account.

On September 4, 2025, Carson cited former CDC director Susan Monarez in criticizing the administration's approach to public health: “It isn't reform. It's sabotage." That's what former CDC director Susan Monarez says about President Trump's Health Secretary. RFK Jr. is ignoring science—and our children will suffer for it.”

The following day, Carson addressed proposed budget cuts to HIV prevention programs: "President Trump’s proposed budget eliminates all funding for HIV prevention at the CDC—a $1 billion cut in just one year. I’m cosponsoring the HIV Prevention Now Act and the PrEP and PEP are Prevention Act to preserve this funding and save lives."

Later that same day, he commented on recent labor statistics: "Numbers don't lie: Layoffs are up, job growth is down, and families are hurting. In August, unemployment rose to 4.3% - the highest in years. President Trump's economy is failing working Americans."

Carson has represented Indiana's 7th District since succeeding Julia Carson in 2008 after previously serving on the Indianapolis City-County Council from 2007 to 2008. Born in Indianapolis in 1974 and a graduate of Concordia University Wisconsin with a BA earned in 2003, Carson continues to reside in his hometown as he advocates for public health initiatives and economic stability.
