State Rep. Craig Haggard (R-Mooresville) recently took part in the White House State Leadership Conference held in Washington, D.C. The event brought together Indiana's elected officials and members of the White House to discuss key issues affecting residents of Indiana.
During the conference, Haggard met with senior White House officials and Cabinet secretaries, including Vice President JD Vance. He said the gathering allowed state legislators to consider ways to strengthen Indiana’s partnership with President Trump’s Administration. Discussions at the meeting focused on several policy areas where Indiana is seen as a leader, such as education, public safety, and efforts to reduce bureaucracy.
"Meeting directly with members of the Trump Administration gave us the opportunity to share how federal policies impact Hoosiers," Haggard said. "I'm encouraged by the administration's willingness to listen and work with Indiana to strengthen our economy and protect our freedoms." He also noted that open dialogue between state and federal government helps lawmakers serve their communities more effectively.
The conference included a question-and-answer session for lawmakers with each speaker and agency representative.
Haggard represents House District 57, which covers parts of Hendricks, Johnson, and Morgan counties.
