André Carson, U.S. Congressman representing Indiana’s 7th district since 2008, recently highlighted key legislative and labor issues in a series of social media posts. Carson, who succeeded Julia Carson and previously served on the Indianapolis City-County Council, reflected on voting rights legislation and advocated for workers’ protections as Labor Day approaches.

On August 24, 2025, Carson commemorated the passage of significant voting rights legislation by stating, "On this date in 2021, the House honored the work of my mentor and friend, Congressman John Lewis by passing the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act to protect against discriminatory gerrymandering and other attacks on our democracy. Unfortunately, the Senate refused to".

The following day, August 25, he turned his attention to American workers with two posts. He wrote: "It’s almost Labor Day — a great time to honor the hardworking men and women who keep America running every day of the year.

If you work hard, you should be able to afford a good life for you and your family. Period.". In another post that same day he added: "I’m fighting to raise the minimum wage, protect workers’ rights, and put more money in your pockets."

Carson was born in Indianapolis in 1974 and continues to reside there. He earned his BA from Concordia University Wisconsin in 2003. His ongoing advocacy reflects longstanding efforts both within Congress and during his prior service on the Indianapolis City-County Council.
