André Carson, U.S. Congressman representing Indiana’s 7th district since 2008, addressed issues of redistricting, extremism, and school meal funding in a series of posts on his social media account between August 16 and August 18, 2025.

On August 16, Carson wrote, "Redistricting is an intentional effort to silence Black voters. Hoosiers from both sides of the aisle will not stand for it. Thank you @TheRevAl @PoliticsNation for having me on tonight." The following day, he continued his criticism of discriminatory practices and rising extremism in Indianapolis. On August 17, Carson stated, "Hate has no place in Indianapolis. Nazis marching in our city is dangerous. We must stand united against extremism that endangers our community and democracy— including against racist redistricting that threatens to silence Hoosier voices."

Shifting focus to education policy on August 18, Carson commented on proposed federal budget changes affecting school meals: "Hunger should have no place in our schools, but MAGA Republicans’ budget bill will take healthy breakfasts and lunches away from millions of kids. We should be expanding, not cutting, school meals if we want our children to learn, grow, and be healthy."

Carson has represented Indiana’s 7th District since succeeding Julia Carson in 2008 and previously served on the Indianapolis City-County Council from 2007 to 2008. Born in Indianapolis in 1974 and currently residing there at age 48, he graduated from Concordia University Wisconsin with a BA in 2003.
