André Carson, U.S. Congressman representing Indiana’s 7th district since 2008, recently used his social media platform to highlight community engagement and policy positions on Social Security and immigration.
On August 13, Carson shared his appreciation for local initiatives in Indianapolis, posting, “It’s always great to stop by the H.O.P.E. meeting — Helping Others Prosper Economically. A big thank you to Kim Boyd and the whole team’s work making Indianapolis stronger and more informed!”
The following day, Carson addressed concerns about federal benefits, stating on August 14: “I’m fighting to save your Social Security.”
Later that same day, he commented on immigration policy and its economic implications for Indiana, writing: “Indianapolis – and the entire Hoosier state – relies on immigrants to fill critical jobs. Mass deportation isn’t just cruel and inhumane. It also puts our entire economy at risk.”
Carson has represented Indiana's 7th District in Congress since succeeding Julia Carson in 2008. Before his tenure in Congress, he served on the Indianapolis City-County Council from 2007 to 2008. Born in Indianapolis in 1974, Carson continues to reside in the city he represents. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Concordia University Wisconsin.
