State Rep. Stephen Bartels (R-Eckerty) has been appointed to several interim study committees that will meet over the summer and fall to discuss policy issues and develop recommendations for the next legislative session.

Bartels will serve as vice chair of both the Interim Study Committee on Public Safety and Military Affairs and the Government Reform Task Force. He will also be a member of the Integrated Public Safety Commission, Interim Study Committee on Public Policy, and State Council for Interstate Adult and Juvenile Offender Supervision.

"These committees play an important role in preparing for the next legislative session," Bartels said. "I look forward to bringing a commonsense perspective focused on streamlining operations, improving efficiency, eliminating redundant roles and strengthening support for public safety and military affairs.”

The Indiana General Assembly holds these committee meetings to gather input from the public, experts, and stakeholders before lawmakers return in January. Information about 2025 interim study committee assignments is available online, along with legislative appointments for each committee. Hearings and agendas can be accessed at https://iga.in.gov/.

Bartels represents House District 74, which covers all of Crawford, Perry, and Spencer counties as well as parts of Dubois and Orange counties.
