André Carson, a U.S. Congressman representing Indiana’s 7th district since 2008, recently used his social media platform to comment on issues ranging from detention facility conditions to the death of an American citizen abroad.
On July 14, 2025, Carson posted about the conditions at a facility referred to as "Alligator Alcatraz." He wrote: "Crowded. Unsanitary. Bug-infested. That's how U.S. officials have described 'Alligator Alcatraz' — when they've been able to enter. This administration wants to hide. We need to keep exposing them."
The following day, July 15, Carson highlighted the case of Sayfollah Musallet, stating: "Sayfollah Musallet was a 20-year old American of Palestinian descent. He worked at his family's ice cream shop in Tampa. He's been described as kind and compassionate. He was beat to death by Israeli settlers while visiting his family in the West Bank."

Carson has represented Indiana's 7th District in Congress since replacing Julia Carson in 2008 and previously served on the Indianapolis City-County Council from 2007 to 2008. Born in Indianapolis in 1974 and currently residing there, he graduated from Concordia University Wisconsin with a bachelor's degree in 2003.
