André Carson, who has represented Indiana’s 7th district in the U.S. Congress since 2008, recently shared a series of posts addressing legislative initiatives and social issues. Carson, who previously served on the Indianapolis City-County Council and holds a BA from Concordia University Wisconsin, used his platform to discuss gun safety reforms, rising Islamophobia, and concerns regarding former President Trump’s actions.

On July 9, 2025, Carson announced new legislation aimed at gun safety. He stated: "I’m introducing the Gun Safety Incentive Act to help keep firearms out of the wrong hands and protect our communities. These are common sense gun safety reforms that everyone can get behind."

The following day, July 10, 2025, Carson addressed comments made about Representative Ilhan Omar. He wrote: "Calling our colleague @Ilhan a 'Muslim terrorist' is Islamophobic, disrespectful, and dangerous. There are about 4.5 million Muslims nationwide. Muslims reside in every Congressional district, but Islamophobic incidents are rising – thanks in large part to rhetoric like this."

On July 11, 2025, Carson discussed political developments at the national level in his column for The Indianapolis Recorder. He commented: "Indianapolis, these are not normal times. In my latest @IndyRecorder column, I lay out why President Trump’s actions are dangerous, unlawful, and a direct threat to our democracy. From mass deportations to attacks on civil rights, it is clear we cannot stay silent."

Carson was born in Indianapolis in 1974 and continues to reside there.
