André Carson, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Indiana's 7th district since 2008, has been vocal about his opposition to proposed budget cuts affecting social welfare programs. His recent series of tweets highlight his efforts and stance against such measures.

On July 2, 2025, Carson tweeted his commitment to fighting against proposed cuts to SNAP and Medicaid, stating "I won’t let cuts to SNAP and Medicaid pass without a fight—not on my watch. I’m on the floor doing everything I can to slow down this vote and urge Republicans to vote NO. Lives are at stake."

Continuing his advocacy, Carson posted another tweet on July 3, 2025, as the House engaged in prolonged voting sessions. He emphasized the Democrats' efforts by saying "The House has been voting for over 24 hours. Democrats are doing everything we can to stop this cruel budget bill. I’m imploring my colleagues: do the right thing."

Later that day, he expressed disappointment in the outcome of the votes through another tweet. He criticized House Republicans' decision with these words: "After over 24 hours of votes, the American people lost and billionaires won. House Republicans voted to give more tax breaks to billionaires while slashing Medicaid, Medicare, & food stamps for regular people. To all who voted for this cruel bill: you are hurting your own."

André Carson was born in Indianapolis in 1974 and currently resides there. He began serving in Congress after succeeding Julia Carson in 2008 and previously served on the Indianapolis City-County Council from 2007 to 2008.
