André Carson, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Indiana's 7th district, has been actively sharing his thoughts and initiatives on social media. His recent tweets address significant issues such as infant mortality rates in Indiana, the celebration of Juneteenth, and healthcare challenges related to Medicaid.

On June 18, 2025, Carson highlighted a report from @StateHealthIN indicating that Indiana's infant mortality rate is at a historic low. However, he noted disparities within the state: "But we still have so much work to do – in Marion County, infant mortality for Black infants is nearly twice the state average." He emphasized his efforts to secure funding for relevant programs.

In a tweet dated June 19, 2025, Carson reflected on the significance of Juneteenth: "Juneteenth is about celebrating our community, our joy, our strength, and our resilience." He described it as more than just a holiday but rather a testament to enduring spirit and honoring ancestors who paved the way for future generations.

On June 20, 2025, Carson addressed healthcare issues related to Medicaid cuts: "Hospitals are legally required to treat anyone in an emergency, even if they can’t pay." He pointed out that cutting Medicaid shifts costs onto hospitals instead of providing reimbursement and leads patients to rely on emergency rooms due to lack of regular preventative care.

André Carson has served in Congress since replacing Julia Carson in 2008. Before his congressional tenure, he was part of the Indianapolis City-County Council from 2007 to 2008. Born in Indianapolis in 1974 and holding a BA from Concordia University Wisconsin since 2003, Carson continues to reside in his hometown.
