André Carson, a U.S. Congress member representing Indiana’s 7th district since 2008, has recently shared his views on various matters through social media posts. Carson succeeded Julia Carson and has been actively voicing concerns over aviation safety, immigration policies, and local sports achievements.
On June 4, 2025, Carson addressed the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) handling of safety risks. He stated that ".@FAANews must do better to fix known safety risks." He emphasized the importance of protecting the flight deck, crew, and passengers by implementing secondary cockpit barriers mandated in 2018 but yet to be installed.
In another post dated June 5, 2025, Carson expressed opposition to former President Trump's travel ban targeting Muslim-majority countries. He remarked that "Trump's travel ban announcement targets many Muslim-majority countries." As a member of the House Muslim Caucus, he is co-leading the NO BAN Act to prevent religious discrimination in immigration decisions. He clarified that "This is not about national security. It's bigotry."
Lastly, on June 6, 2025, Carson conveyed his support for a local sports team with a tweet saying "The @Pacers are making history. Indianapolis is behind you — let's bring it home! #YesCers" showing encouragement for their performance.
André Carson was born in Indianapolis in 1974 and holds a BA from Concordia University Wisconsin. Before joining Congress in 2008 following his predecessor Julia Carson's tenure, he served on the Indianapolis City-County Council from 2007 to 2008.
