State Representative Danny Lopez recognized Anita Hagen, the retired Executive Director of Hamilton County Harvest Food Bank, with the Distinguished Hoosier Award. The award ceremony took place on Thursday to honor Hagen's 15 years of service with the organization.

Hagen was instrumental in founding the food bank in 2010 and served as its executive director for a decade. During her tenure, over 1.5 million pounds of food were distributed to those in need within the community.

"Under Anita’s leadership, HCH grew in reach, impact, and compassion while providing vital resources to countless families in need across Hamilton County," said Lopez. "Her legacy of generosity and community spirit will continue to inspire for years to come."

Though she retired in March, Hagen continues her involvement with the organization by volunteering.

The Hamilton County Harvest Food Bank was established in 2009 when several local food pantries collaborated to create a nonprofit entity aimed at supporting all Hamilton County pantries with their food inventory needs.

The Distinguished Hoosier Award is one of Indiana's highest honors given by the governor. It recognizes individuals who have made significant contributions to their communities and are cherished by fellow Hoosiers.
