U.S. Senators Todd Young and Joni Ernst have introduced a resolution in the Senate, supported by 40 Republican colleagues, to designate May 4-10, 2025, as National Small Business Week. The initiative aims to honor entrepreneurs and innovators who contribute to economic growth and job creation in the United States.

Senator Young emphasized the importance of small businesses to Indiana's economy, reflecting on his personal connection as the son of a small business owner. "As the son of a small business owner, I understand how vital small businesses are to Indiana’s economy," said Senator Young. "I’m proud to stand with Hoosier small businesses and will continue advocating for policies that help them thrive."

Senator Ernst highlighted the impact of current economic policies under President Trump, attributing a resurgence in Main Street activities to these measures. She stated, "Main Street is roaring back under President Trump’s pro-growth policies that are ushering in a Golden Age." She further expressed her support for small businesses by acknowledging their role beyond just economic contributions: "This week, we celebrate the small businesses that mean so much more than the livelihoods they support and the jobs they create. These shops embody the American spirit and shape the culture of big cities and rural communities across America."

The resolution recognizes the significant contributions made by entrepreneurs and promises continued advocacy for their interests at the federal level.
