Timothy F. Coleman, the treasurer of the IPS Foundation, has been named Indiana's 2025 Trailblazer by TechPoint, an initiative under the Central Indiana Corporate Partnership focused on digital innovation. This award recognizes individuals who have significantly contributed to Indiana's technology sector.
Coleman is not only an alumnus of IPS but also serves as Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice President at Eli Lilly and Company. His career at Lilly began in 1987 as a summer intern, leading to a full-time role as a systems analyst in 1990. Over the years, he has played a pivotal role in advancing the company's technological capabilities through initiatives such as AI-driven clinical trial solutions and global digital strategies.
Apart from his corporate achievements, Coleman is committed to developing STEM talent. He co-founded Black Data Processing Associates Indianapolis and supports several organizations dedicated to education technology, including the Black Education Technology Foundation and Purdue’s Krenicki Center.
In recognition of his contributions, IPS awarded Coleman with the Inspiring Alumni Award in 2023 and inducted him into their Hall of Fame. Reflecting on his career path, Coleman remarked, "My journey from IPS classrooms to leading Eli Lilly has shown me the incredible impact of education," adding emphatically, "I AM IPS!"
The 2025 Mira Awards also recognized other educational achievements. William Penn Middle School received the TechPoint Bridge Builder Award accepted by Principal Chelsey Thompson. Additionally, Tinya Fisher was honored as Computer Science Teacher of the Year by Nextech.
