Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS) recently highlighted the journey of Annette Murdock-Wooldridge, a 1989 graduate of Broad Ripple High School, in their Alumni Spotlight series. This initiative aims to share the experiences and achievements of former students, demonstrating how IPS has influenced their lives.

Murdock-Wooldridge pursued higher education at Ball State University and Martin University, earning degrees in Education. She furthered her studies with a Master’s in Special Education and an Ed.S in Organizational Leadership from Grand Canyon University. Her dedication to education was recognized when she was named Teach Indy Center Township Alumni Teacher of the Year in 2022.

Currently, Murdock-Wooldridge is an Instructional Coach at Sankofa School of Success, where she focuses on teacher development and instructional strategies. She also plays a role in strategic decision-making as part of the Executive/Instructional Leadership Team.

Reflecting on her time at IPS, Murdock-Wooldridge said, "My time at Broad Ripple High School was transformative. The educators I encountered didn’t just teach me academic content but showed me the profound impact a dedicated teacher can have on a student’s life." She emphasized that her experiences at IPS instilled critical skills such as communication and adaptability, which have been invaluable throughout her career.

Graduation day remains a poignant memory for Murdock-Wooldridge. "We were the first class to graduate in the newly renovated gym," she recalled. Despite the emotional farewell to her classmates, she cherishes the ongoing connection with them over three decades later.

Since beginning her educational career in 2003, Murdock-Wooldridge has aimed to give back to IPS by working within its schools. She advises current students to "embrace every opportunity" and view education as a tool for transformation.

Her involvement with IPS extends beyond teaching; she has contributed to initiatives like designing school models tailored to community needs. Reflecting on these efforts, she stated: "It’s been an honor to continue serving the community that first believed in me."
