Applications are now open for the Indiana House Page Program for the 2025 legislative session at the Statehouse in Indianapolis. State Representatives Wendy McNamara and Tim O'Brien, both from Evansville, are encouraging students to participate.
McNamara highlighted the program's educational benefits, stating, "As a school principal in the community, I always encourage teachers and parents to discuss the benefits of the page program with their students. Meeting their local legislators and watching session are excellent ways for young Hoosiers to learn about state government."
The program invites Hoosier students aged 13 to 18 to assist lawmakers and staff, tour the Indiana Statehouse, and observe legislative sessions. Applications can be submitted through IndianaHouseRepublicans.com/PageProgram. The legislative session began on January 8 and will conclude by April 29.
O'Brien emphasized the value of such experiences: "Experiences like the page program are beneficial for young Hoosiers. Pages get a firsthand look at how laws are written, debated and voted upon on our state and learn more about how representatives work for their districts."
Students interested in participating can do so on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays during the session. They will receive an excused absence from school. Large groups may attend on Wednesdays only by contacting the page program director at 317-232-9410 or via email at pageprogram@iga.in.gov.
Participants must arrange their own lunch and transportation to Indianapolis.
State Rep. Wendy McNamara represents House District 76, which includes all of Posey County and part of Vanderburgh County.
