During its annual Organization Day on January 7, the Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS) Board of School Commissioners re-elected Angelia Moore as president for 2025. Moore, an at-large member, was previously elected president for 2024 and served as vice president in 2023. She has a strong connection to IPS, being an alumna and a former district administration member. Her family ties to the school include three graduates and one current student.

Hope Hampton from District 3 has been appointed as the new vice president, taking over from Dr. Nicole Carey of District 5. Hampton has been part of the board since 2023 and is also an IPS graduate.

Deandra Thompson, another at-large member, was chosen as secretary. She is currently serving her first term on the board.

Newly sworn-in members by Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett include Dr. Gayle Cosby (District 2), Allissa Impink (District 4), and Ashley Thomas (District 1).

For the first time in its history, the IPS Board will be composed entirely of women and African Americans. This development marks a significant moment in terms of representation and leadership within the district.
