Applications to intern with Indiana House Republicans for the 2025 legislative session are now open, according to area lawmakers.

State Rep. Craig Haggard (R-Mooresville) stated that the Indiana House of Representatives offers a spring semester internship at the Statehouse in Indianapolis during the legislative session, which will start in January and conclude in April. House interns earn $900 biweekly and work full-time, Monday through Friday.

"Statehouse internships offer a unique perspective on the legislative process and the workings of state government," Haggard said. "We are eager to welcome enthusiastic students who want to make a difference in Indiana."

State Rep. Michelle Davis (R-Whiteland) mentioned that internships are open to college students and recent graduates of all majors. Interns receive free parking, career and professional development assistance, enrollment access to an Indiana government class, and opportunities to earn academic credits through their college or university.

"Our internship program provides invaluable experiences for those seeking to learn more about state government," Davis said. "We are looking for dedicated and innovative students to join us in 2025."

State Rep. Peggy Mayfield (R-Martinsville) noted that interns are also eligible to apply for a competitive $3,000 scholarship to use toward undergraduate and graduate expenses.

"Serving as a House intern is a remarkable way to gain practical experience in public service," Mayfield said. "We invite students who are passionate about making a positive impact to apply for our 2025 program."

State Rep. Robb Greene (R-Shelbyville) highlighted that the program offers opportunities for students to work in various departments related to their studies, including legislative operations, policy, and communications.

"College is a great time for young Hoosiers to gain meaningful experience in the workplace," Greene said. "Interning at the Statehouse offers an immersive experience where students can grow personally and professionally all while getting paid."

Applications are available online at indianahouserepublicans.com/internship and are due by Oct. 31.
