Ashley Cowger named new chief systems officer at Indianapolis Public Schools

Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS) announced today that Ashley Cowger will join the Executive Leadership Team as the Chief Systems Officer. In this role, Cowger will oversee and strategically manage the district’s digital strategy efforts along with data management, analytics, and reporting as well as audio-visual and telecommunications initiatives.

Cowger previously served as the Deputy Chief of Strategy for IPS. She leads a variety of strategic organizational-wide initiatives including the implementation of Rebuilding Stronger and Digital Strategy for IPS. Digital Strategy includes the functional work of Networking & Cybersecurity, Business Intelligence, Digital Transformation, Student Information Systems, and Device Supports to ensure infrastructure, people, and resources are focused on supporting high-quality teaching and learning in IPS.

Ashley has also served as Executive Director of Strategy & Integration, Executive Director of Professional Learning, and Director of Special Education for Indianapolis Public Schools.

Prior to her service as a district leader in IPS, Ashley served as Chief of Staff for the Indiana State Board of Education. She led school and district turnaround strategy for large urban school districts around the country while working for TNTP. Additionally, she served as a self-contained special education teacher for students with emotional, behavioral, and conduct disabilities in Indianapolis Public Schools.
