Applications to intern with Indiana House Republicans for the 2025 legislative session are now open, according to area lawmakers.
State Rep. Kyle Pierce (R-Anderson) stated that the Indiana House of Representatives offers a spring semester internship at the Statehouse in Indianapolis during the legislative session, which will start in January and conclude in April. House interns earn $900 biweekly and work full time, Monday through Friday.
“Students can use this internship to network, improve skills and build a resume,” Pierce said. “This program can give young Hoosiers more confidence and serve as a launching pad into a meaningful career.”
State Rep. Elizabeth Rowray (R-Yorktown) mentioned that internships are open to college students and recent graduates of all majors. Interns receive free parking, career and professional development assistance, enrollment access to an Indiana government class, and opportunities to earn academic credits through their college or university.
“Students with an interest in government or gaining professional work experience should consider applying for an internship,” Rowray said. “Interns in the past have truly enjoyed their time at the Statehouse while building a solid foundation for future careers.”
State Rep. Lori Goss-Reaves (R-Marion) noted that interns are also eligible to apply for a competitive $3,000 scholarship to use toward undergraduate and graduate expenses.
“Experience is important when pursuing a career. This internship will teach students and recent graduates many necessary skills that will assist them as they enter the workforce,” Goss-Reaves said. “I hope all eligible students and graduates interested in the legislative process apply for this wonderful opportunity.”
State Rep. Chris Jeter (R-Fishers) highlighted that the program offers opportunities for students to work in various departments related to their studies, including legislative operations, policy, and communications.
"Whether you're interested in helping constituents navigate state government or you enjoy conducting in-depth research or working with the media, there is something for everyone in our internship program," Jeter said. "This is a great opportunity, and interested students and recent grads in our community should apply soon."
Indiana House Republican intern recruiters will be available to talk with area students on Sept. 18 at the Ball State University Cardinal Job Fair.
"This immersive, full-time internship is a great way to build job skills while earning money and college credit," said State Rep. Bob Cherry (R-Greenfield). "Those seeking a unique and rewarding experience should apply as soon as possible."
Applications are available online at indianahouserepublicans.com/internship and are due by Oct. 31.
