Applications to intern with Indiana House Republicans for the 2025 legislative session are now open, according to area lawmakers.

State Rep. Cory Criswell (R-Middletown) stated that the Indiana House of Representatives offers a spring semester internship at the Statehouse in Indianapolis during the legislative session, which will start in January and conclude in April. House interns earn $900 biweekly and work full-time, Monday through Friday.

"This is a valuable program for those interested in state government and the legislative process," Criswell said. “The internship helps young Hoosiers make professional connections that can lead to a future career while earning college credit."

State Rep. Chris Jeter (R-Fishers) mentioned that internships are open to college students and recent graduates of all majors. Interns receive free parking, career and professional development assistance, enrollment access to an Indiana government class, and opportunities to earn academic credits through their college or university.

"Whether you're interested in helping constituents navigate state government, or you enjoy conducting in-depth research or working with the media, there is something for everyone in our internship program," Jeter said. "This is a great opportunity, and interested students and recent grads in our community should apply soon."

State Rep. Bob Cherry (R-Greenfield) noted that interns are also eligible to apply for a competitive $3,000 scholarship to use toward undergraduate and graduate expenses.

"This immersive, full-time internship is a great way to build job skills while earning money and college credit," Cherry said. "Those seeking a unique and rewarding experience should apply as soon as possible."

The program offers opportunities for students to work in various departments related to their studies, including legislative operations, policy, and communications.

Indiana House Republican intern recruiters will be available to talk with area students on Oct. 1 at Butler University during the Fall All Majors Career and Internship Fair. Visit butler.edu/internships-careers/ to register for the event.

Applications are available online at indianahouserepublicans.com/internship and are due by Oct. 31.
