The Grindle Farm in Grant County has been honored with Hoosier Homestead Centennial and Sesquicentennial awards for its continuous operation since 1852, as announced by State Rep. Lori Goss-Reaves (R-Marion) and State Sen. Andy Zay (R-Huntington).
“It takes determination, hard work, and dedication to keep farms in operation for numerous decades,” Goss-Reaves stated. “I'm honored to recognize this local farm and other longstanding farm families that contribute greatly to our state’s economic and agricultural success."
Farms that have been owned and operated by the same family for 100, 150, or 200 years can qualify for centennial, sesquicentennial, or bicentennial Hoosier Homestead awards.
"Hoosier farmers contribute greatly to Indiana's economy and its success," Zay remarked. "I'm proud to see the Grindle Farm and family receive this honor, and I thank them for all they do to support our great state's agricultural production."
The Grindle Farm was among 104 awardees recently recognized at the Indiana State Fair for their dedication to the state's agriculture industry. Hoosier Homestead ceremonies are conducted every spring and summer. Since the award's establishment in 1976, more than 6,000 farms have been honored.
