State Representative Heath VanNatter has announced that Tipton County will receive $1.5 million in state funding for road and bridge projects. This funding is part of Indiana's Community Crossings Matching Grant Program, which supports infrastructure improvements such as road reconstruction, bridge preservation, and intersection enhancements.

A total of 223 communities across Indiana will benefit from more than $139 million in state matching grants. "Investing in infrastructure is critical to ensuring our communities can compete in today's economy," said VanNatter. "Because Indiana has remained fiscally responsible, we are able to continue funding this program that can improve the quality of life and place for Hoosiers."

The grant program requires smaller municipalities to provide a 25 percent match in local funds, while larger communities must provide a 50 percent match. State law mandates that half of the available matching funds be awarded annually to communities within counties with populations of 50,000 or fewer. Since its inception in 2016, Community Crossings has distributed over $1.8 billion for local road and bridge improvements.

For more information about the program, visit the Indiana Department of Transportation website and navigate to the "Community Crossings Matching Grant" section.
