The Roudebush Farm in Greene County has been awarded a Hoosier Homestead Centennial Award for its continuous operation since 1918, according to State Rep. Bruce Borders (R-Jasonville) and State Sen. Eric Bassler (R-Washington).
"The Hoosier Homestead awards honor the remarkable dedication of families who have preserved and nurtured their farms for over a century," Borders stated. "These families are the backbone of Indiana's agricultural tradition, and their contributions have significantly shaped our state's rural landscape. This recognition is a tribute to their enduring hard work and commitment."
"Hoosier farmers are some of the most dedicated workers in Indiana," Bassler commented. "As the ninth leading farming state in the nation, Indiana's agriculture industry owes a great deal to family farms who have worked hard over the years to be successful. I am grateful to these families and congratulate them for receiving this recognition."
Farms that have been owned and operated by the same family for 100, 150, or 200 years can qualify for centennial, sesquicentennial, or bicentennial Hoosier Homestead awards.
The Roudebush Farm was among 104 awardees recently recognized at the Indiana State Fair for their dedication to the state's agriculture industry. Hoosier Homestead ceremonies are conducted every spring and summer. Since its establishment in 1976, more than 6,000 farms have been honored with this award.
