State Rep. Matt Lehman (R-Berne) has been appointed to serve on the Interim Study Committee on Financial Institutions and Insurance. State legislators participate in interim committees during the summer and fall to examine key policy issues, gather public input, and recommend legislation for the regular session beginning in January.

"In this committee, we are going to take a close look at the increasing market concentration of the health care industry, from insurance providers to pharmacies," said Lehman. "These trends affect the cost and quality of health care, so we are going to take a deep dive as part of our overall goal of lowering out-of-control costs."

Lehman will also co-chair the Legislative Continuity Committee and chair both the Legislative Council's Audit and Financial Reporting Subcommittee and the Oral History Project Advisory Committee. Additionally, he will serve as a member of the Legislative Council, Indiana Semiquincentennial Commission, and Legislative State of Emergency Advisory Group.

According to Lehman, members of the public are welcome to attend and testify at committee hearings, which typically occur at the Statehouse in Indianapolis. Hearings are also livestreamed and archived online at iga.in.gov, where committee calendars and meeting agendas are posted.
