Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS) held its 2025 Hall of Fame Awards on November 1 at the Crane Bay Event Center, recognizing educators, staff, school leaders, and community partners for their contributions.
The event included performances and speeches from district leaders and alumni. Dr. Aleesia Johnson, IPS Superintendent, spoke about progress made during the second year of the Rebuilding Stronger initiative. She noted that opportunities have expanded in areas such as arts, music, physical education, computer science, foreign language, algebra, and band or orchestra.
Dr. Johnson also highlighted academic improvements in the district. She stated that there was a 10-point increase in IREAD literacy scores—more than double the state’s growth—and reported that students from the Class of 2025 earned a total of 4,553 college credits.
“These achievements — in academics, facilities, innovation, health, and partnerships — are more than numbers or projects,” Dr. Johnson said. “They represent our community’s strength and our students’ bright future. Together, we’re proving what it means to rebuild stronger.”
The ceremony recognized several individuals with Inspiring Alumni Awards.
Angelia Moore, President of the IPS Board of School Commissioners, and Indiana State Senator Andrea Hunley addressed attendees to celebrate accomplishments within the district and reaffirm commitment to student success.
Entertainment during the evening included a performance by the George Washington High School Choir led by Alexander Warren and a reading by junior Mary Dorika from George Washington High School under guidance from Lisa Jakubowski.
Matthew Fultz from WTHR served as master of ceremonies for the event.
