André Carson, a U.S. Congressman representing Indiana’s 7th district since 2008, has recently addressed several issues on his social media platform, including the legacy of musician D'Angelo, healthcare costs amid a government shutdown, and opposition to early redistricting.
On October 14, 2025, Carson paid tribute to the late musician D'Angelo and highlighted health disparities in the Black community. He wrote: "D'Angelo's music leaves behind a powerful legacy, one that will endure for years to come.
Tragically, he was taken far too soon by pancreatic cancer.
Black Americans face the highest risk of developing this deadly disease. We need to increase federal funding for pancreatic".
The following day, on October 15, 2025, Carson commented on the ongoing government shutdown and its impact on Americans’ healthcare expenses. He stated: "Day 15 of the government shutdown. Americans are receiving notices that in 2026, their healthcare costs will double."
Addressing state politics on October 16, 2025, Carson voiced his stance against early redistricting in Indiana: "It's simple - Hoosiers do not support early redistricting and will not stand for it."
Carson has served as Indiana’s 7th district representative since succeeding Julia Carson in Congress in 2008 and previously served on the Indianapolis City-County Council from 2007 to 2008. Born in Indianapolis in 1974 and currently residing there at age 48, Carson is an alumnus of Concordia University Wisconsin (Class of 2003).
