André Carson, U.S. Congressman representing Indiana’s 7th district since 2008, has used his social media platform to address recent political developments and ongoing international issues.
On October 9, 2025, Carson commented on the government shutdown, stating, "Even though President Trump and Republicans shut down the government, my office remains open and committed to serving you."
Later that day, he addressed the situation in Gaza: "I'm encouraged to see an initial agreement to potentially start a lasting ceasefire in Gaza. I've been calling for a ceasefire and an end to this suffering from the beginning. We need a real, lasting peace deal — with weapons put down and a surge of sustained humanitarian aid."
On October 10, 2025, Carson criticized JD Vance regarding redistricting efforts and reiterated his stance on domestic priorities: "JD Vance, Hoosiers don't want mid-decade redistricting. What we do want is for Republicans to end their government shutdown and prevent healthcare costs from skyrocketing."
Carson has represented Indiana's 7th District since replacing Julia Carson in 2008. Before his congressional service, he was a member of the Indianapolis City-County Council from 2007 to 2008. Born in Indianapolis in 1974 and currently residing there at age 48, Carson graduated from Concordia University Wisconsin with a BA in 2003.
