Indiana's Community Crossings Matching Grant Program has allocated over $1.6 million in state funding to support local road and bridge projects, as announced by State Representative Jack Jordan. The program aims to aid communities with road reconstruction, bridge preservation, intersection improvements, and other infrastructure projects.

This year, 245 communities across Indiana will benefit from more than $200 million in state matching grants. "We rely on safe and dependable roadways to get from place to place," said Jordan. "Strong infrastructure is critical to growing our local communities through new businesses and residents."

The state of Indiana was recently recognized by Consumer Affairs as having the best overall road conditions in the nation, citing low traffic fatality rates and high-quality roads.

In the area, Fulton County received a grant of $1 million, while Rochester was awarded $658,477. To qualify for these funds, smaller municipalities must provide a 25 percent match in local funds, whereas larger communities are required to provide a 50 percent match. Additionally, the program mandates that half of the available matching funds be awarded annually to communities within counties with populations of 50,000 or less.

Since its inception in 2016, the Community Crossings initiative has distributed over $2 billion for local road and bridge enhancements.
