Indiana's Community Crossings Matching Grant Program has allocated over $3.1 million to local communities for road and bridge projects, as announced by State Representatives Ethan Manning and Heath VanNatter. This initiative is part of a broader effort distributing more than $200 million in state matching grants to 245 Indiana communities this year.

The program supports various infrastructure improvements, including road reconstruction and bridge preservation. "Our state and communities are continuing to grow, and the local infrastructure must keep up with the increased demands," said Manning. He emphasized Indiana's commitment to enhancing infrastructure for Hoosiers' quality of life.

Consumer Affairs recently ranked Indiana as the top state for overall road conditions, highlighting low traffic fatalities and high-quality roads. Cass County received $1.5 million, Galveston $660,000, and Logansport $1 million from the grant program.

VanNatter remarked on the importance of strong infrastructure for economic growth: "Having strong, sustainable infrastructure is necessary to maintain Indiana’s economy and promote growth."

To qualify for funding, smaller municipalities need a 25 percent match in local funds while larger ones require a 50 percent match. The program mandates that half of the available matching funds go annually to counties with populations under 50,000. Since its inception in 2016, Community Crossings has awarded over $2 billion for local road and bridge improvements.
