The United States Senate has unanimously approved a bipartisan resolution introduced by Senators Todd Young and Chris Coons to designate February 15-22, 2025, as National FFA Week. This resolution acknowledges the National FFA Organization's role in shaping future leaders through educational and career opportunities.
The resolution also marks the 75th anniversary of President Harry S. Truman signing a bill that provided a federal charter for FFA, emphasizing the importance of agricultural education in the U.S.
Senator Young stated, “FFA plays a critical role in the development of students through agricultural education. The lessons, tools, and resources gained through the FFA program equip Indiana’s future leaders with the skills needed to succeed in a variety of fields.” He expressed satisfaction in leading this initiative supporting over 14,000 Hoosier FFA members.
Senator Coons remarked on how Delawareans benefit from programs offered by both Delaware FFA and the National FFA Organization: “I’m thrilled this bipartisan resolution honoring this vital organization and its talented educators and members who will become the next generation of leaders passed the Senate.”
National FFA Advisor Dr. Travis Park commented on National FFA Week as an opportunity to celebrate agricultural education: “It’s a time of celebration and reflection as FFA members, advisors, and supporters come together to honor the impact of this extraordinary organization."
In Indiana alone, there are 230 chapters with nearly 14,500 members involved in agriculture education.
The resolution received support from several other senators across party lines including John Thune, Jim Banks, Bill Hagerty among others. In parallel, Representatives Tracey Mann, Jimmy Panetta, Glenn Thompson, and Suzanne Bonamici have introduced a companion resolution in the House.
