Indianapolis Public Schools (IPS) is set to host its second VEX Robotics tournament of the year on March 1. The event will feature 21 robotics teams from various middle and high schools within the district, showcasing their engineering skills and teamwork.
The tournament, named the IPS Invitational, will take place at Arsenal Technical High School in the West Gym. Participants will engage in a VEX Robotics challenge known as High Stakes, which emphasizes design, engineering, and collaboration. This occasion serves as an opportunity to display the work of IPS students in STEM fields and recognize their commitment to robotics.
Isaac Adams, an engineering teacher and Titan robotics coach at Arsenal Tech, expressed enthusiasm for the event: “We’re excited to host the IPS Invitational and see what our students are capable of. This tournament is a chance for our teams to compete against one another and demonstrate their passion for robotics while also learning from each other in a fun and supportive environment.”
The event will include in-person judging where teams can present their robots interactively. Additionally, students will have a chance to participate in the Skills Challenge to further assess their robot's performance.
IPS is seeking volunteers to help ensure that the event proceeds smoothly. Those interested can contact Isaac Adams at adamsi@myips.org for more information or to volunteer.
