State Representative Brad Barrett has been honored with Indiana's highest accolade, the Sagamore of the Wabash. Governor Eric Holcomb presented the award to Barrett in a ceremony held at the Statehouse in Indianapolis on January 9, 2025.

Barrett, a Republican from Richmond, has served as a state representative for seven years. During his tenure, he has been involved in several key committees and is currently chairing the House Public Health Committee. He played a significant role in passing legislation aimed at preventing Hoosier patients from receiving unexpected bills following out-of-network ambulance rides. His legislative efforts have also addressed issues related to health care research, breast cancer screenings, and EMS services.

The Sagamore of the Wabash award dates back to the 1940s and was created by former Governor Ralph Gates. It is regarded as the highest honor that can be awarded by an Indiana governor and recognizes distinguished individuals who have made notable contributions to the state.
